Milk thistle comes in capsules and liquid extracts. Neither format tells you what a product will do. A better comparison starts with each Supplement Facts panel: the serving unit, the actual ingredient amount, any standardized constituent, and what else goes into the product.
Serving size: capsules versus drops
A capsule label may give an amount per one or two capsules. A liquid may use drops, a dropperful, milliliters or a teaspoon. Check the labeled serving size and servings per container before comparing prices or ingredient amounts. The FDA's dietary supplement labeling guide calls for serving size and dietary ingredient quantities, and has specific rules for describing liquid extracts and their solvents.
VITAMIZED Daily Liver Support Capsules use a two-capsule serving. The current product page lists 300 mg milk thistle seed extract per serving, separately from a 325 mg proprietary botanical blend. A bottle contains 60 capsules, or 30 labeled servings. This is a multi-ingredient capsule, not a plain milk thistle liquid tincture.
What does a liquid extract label need to tell you?
FDA guidance says liquid extracts are listed by the volume or weight of the total extract, with the starting material's condition identified when fresh, and the solvent identified in the nutrition label or ingredient list. A liquid label may also give a concentration ratio. Don't translate a milliliter into milligrams of milk thistle or a particular silymarin amount without the information that would support it. Check whether the formula uses alcohol, glycerin or another solvent if that affects your choice. Different liquids can have different concentrations and directions.

Does either label quantify silymarin?
NCCIH describes silymarin as a mixture of compounds in milk thistle extract. Some products may state a standardized percentage, but a botanical name or generic extract amount does not establish a percentage. VITAMIZED's current capsule page lists 300 mg milk thistle seed extract without a silymarin percentage. Do not invent a silymarin dose or assume a liquid would deliver more. Ask whether each label actually states a standardized content, what measurement it uses, and the labeled serving.
Full formula and everyday fit
The VITAMIZED capsule also lists 200 mg organic apple cider vinegar, 100 mg artichoke leaf, 100 mg dandelion root extract, 30 mg choline and 25 mg zinc per two-capsule serving, among other ingredients. Its capsule shell is hypromellose. If you only want milk thistle, this is a combination formula; compare the complete panel rather than counting one botanical. A liquid may contain sweeteners, flavors or solvents. Neither form is automatically easier for everyone: capsules avoid measuring a dose, while drops can be measured according to the specific bottle's directions.
The NIH National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health says research on milk thistle for health conditions is not strong enough for definite conclusions. It also advises people taking medicines to speak with a healthcare provider before using herbs, and notes uncertainty during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Format does not remove those cautions.

- How much is one labeled serving and how many servings are in the container?
- Is milk thistle named as seed powder, dry extract or liquid extract, and is the plant part clear?
- What is the actual declared extract amount? Is a silymarin percentage stated or absent?
- What solvent, capsule material and other ingredients are listed?
- Do the directions and warnings fit your situation?
